He has now won 30 of his previous 34 matches, the fastest of any part having achieved that number of victories in English Football League history.
Still, even though he only needs nine more points from his remaining four games to break the record, Klopp insists he doesn’t bother making history.
“It’s not important to me; I’m not interested in any of that, but I want to win football games,” he said after the game.
“For athletes in general it can be important. We’re champions and it could be smoothed out, but it’s not. The boys go with everything.”
Salah, Mane, fit Firmino
Liverpool certainly didn’t do it their way against Brighton, who struggled diligently after dropping two goals in the first 10 minutes.
A goal from Leandro Trossard had given the hosts hope, but Brighton advanced the tie, Liverpool’s Salah talisman appeared with a good header to leave the game at rest.
The Egyptian now has 19 goals in the league this season and is just three behind current top scorer Jamie Vardy.
Klopp has now seen his dynamic trio of Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino score 250 goals during his reign at the club, a total that will likely be added to the remaining matches.
Salah leads the way with 94 goals, Mane tied 79 and Firmino with 77 in all competitions.
Liverpool hosted Burnley in their next Premier League game against two tricky draws against Arsenal and Chelsea. The Reds face Newcastle in the final game of the season.
